The Chugs

About the project:

I get to design for my favorite band, and my husband just happens to be in that band! They write songs exclusively about Hamm’s beer. It started as a joke, but it’s damn good music. It’s all conceptual and creative, so I get to be creative with the visuals as well. They release most of their songs as six packs - 6 songs on a vinyl or cassette.

Album art for six pack #1 - The Cancept Album. Hamm’s beer is brewed in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the land of sky blue waters. Vintage Hamm’s ads inspired this look, which I also happen to think looks very vintage midwestern.

Album art for six pack #2 - Hey Neighbor. The Rosanne house is on the east side of Evansville, so we shot a photo of the insufferable neighbor about to get his house burned down by the Hamm’s man in front of this iconic house.

Album art for six pack #3 - Eternal Brewtopia - I thought it’d be fun for recipients of the album to have The Chugs canoe around the lake with a cutout canoe and popsicle stick attached to it, so this art is interactive for the first 25 albums sold. The design on this is conveniently collage style since there were problems getting to a lake. Canoe in the grass photo by Christian Potts.
